Your role at Baxter
As a Senior Financial Analyst within Baxter’s Corporate FP&A organization, you will play a highly visible role supporting two of the company’s most important priorities: global cash flow forecasting and capital investment governance. Reporting directly to a Senior Finance Manager, you will partner with finance leaders, operations teams, engineering, procurement, Treasury, and FP&A colleagues across the company to help drive better investment decisions and improve visibility into Baxter’s financial performance.
This role offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to senior leadership, including the Corporate FP&A organization and enterprise capital governance processes. You will help evaluate major capital investments, analyze cash flow drivers across the business, and provide executive-level insights that influence strategic decision-making. Success in this role requires strong financial and accounting fundamentals, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to navigate complex data and systems to find meaningful answers.
This is a hybrid role based in Deerfield, IL.
What you'll be doing
- Support the development, consolidation, and reporting of Baxter’s global cash flow forecasts, partnering with Treasury, FP&A, and finance teams across the organization.
- Analyze cash flow and balance sheet drivers, identify forecast variances, and provide actionable insights to improve forecasting accuracy and business decision-making.
- Evaluate capital investment opportunities through detailed financial analysis, including ROI, NPV, IRR, payback, sensitivity analysis, and risk assessments.
- Partner with project sponsors, engineering, operations, procurement, and finance teams to validate investment assumptions and monitor project performance throughout the investment lifecycle.
- Prepare executive-level analyses, reports, and presentations that support capital governance committees and senior leadership decision-making.
- Monitor capital spending, project approvals, forecast updates, and benefit realization to ensure compliance with established governance processes.
- Develop and maintain financial models, dashboards, and reporting tools that provide visibility into capital performance, cash flow trends, and key financial metrics.
- Drive process improvement and automation initiatives that enhance reporting transparency, forecasting accuracy, and overall financial efficiency.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of financial statements, including cash flow, balance sheet, accrual accounting, and how transactions impact overall financial performance.
- Experience performing financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, investment evaluation, or FP&A activities within a large, matrixed organization.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work through complex datasets and incomplete information to develop logical recommendations.
- Strong financial modeling skills with experience supporting business cases, capital investments, forecasting, or strategic planning initiatives.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear business conclusions for leadership audiences.
- Experience partnering with multiple stakeholders and influencing decisions across finance, operations, engineering, procurement, or other cross-functional teams.
- Prior experience in public accounting, audit, corporate finance, cash flow forecasting, capital planning, or financial governance is preferred. Experience with JD Edwards, large ERP systems, Power BI, or automation tools is a plus.
