Regional Sales Director, Respiratory East Region

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role, the Regional Sales Director will lead regional business strategy and execution across the Respiratory franchise in the East region, covering Boston, New York, New Jersey, Washington, D.C., Upstate New York, and North Carolina. The RSD will bring together priorities across specialties and business areas, translating national direction into a clear regional plan that leaders and teams can understand and execute.

The RSD will lead five District Sales Managers and field representatives, building strong leaders and creating clarity, consistency, and accountability across the region. In partnership with AstraZeneca and Amgen colleagues, the RSD will align teams around shared priorities while adapting execution to regional customers and market needs.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Setting regional business direction by translating national brand and franchise priorities into a focused regional plan, with clear goals and performance expectations across specialties and business areas.
  • Connecting priorities across the franchise by helping leaders understand how each specialty and team contributes to regional goals and coordinating plans and field execution across customer types.
  • Leading and developing field leaders by coaching District Sales Managers, building strong talent pipelines, and setting expectations for leadership, accountability, and engagement to drive sustained performance.
  • Managing talent and performance through ongoing coaching, formal performance reviews, talent assessments, succession planning, and corrective action when needed.
  • Driving disciplined execution across personal promotion, key account engagement, and cross-functional collaboration with AstraZeneca field leadership. Ensuring effective resource utilization, budget stewardship, and compliant sample management, along with appropriate use of approved resources.
  • Partnering across the organization with Amgen colleagues in Marketing, Key Account Management, Access, Medical, Training, Analytics, and other functions to coordinate plans and address barriers.
  • Serving as a key connection between the field and senior Sales and Marketing leaders by communicating business issues and competitive dynamics on an ongoing basis. Sharing customer needs and field feedback to inform strategy and future planning.
  • Using data to guide action by reviewing regional performance and execution, identifying opportunities and risks, and working with leaders to set practical actions and monitor progress.
  • Building relationships with key customers, health systems, and opinion leaders across the region through regular in-person and virtual engagement. Travel to customer sites, including offices, clinics, and hospitals, is required.
  • Modeling compliant leadership by ensuring regional activities follow Amgen policies, regulatory requirements, and business conduct standards.
