Job Description

About the Role:

As an Electrician Technician at Takeda, you’ll play a critical role in maintaining the electrical systems and infrastructure that support our Los Angeles manufacturing operations. You’ll perform advanced preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance to help ensure the safety, reliability, and availability of essential electrical equipment throughout the facility.

Working with limited supervision, you’ll inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical power distribution and control systems, including generators, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, and emergency power systems. You’ll also support electrical installations, equipment modifications, and reliability improvements while ensuring work meets applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and site procedures.

This is a senior, hands-on technical position for an experienced industrial electrician who can independently execute complex electrical maintenance activities, recognize potential hazards, and provide technical guidance to teammates while supporting reliable pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.

How You Will Contribute:

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective electrical maintenance in cGMP and non-cGMP areas in accordance with the site's Electrical Maintenance Program, NFPA 70B, manufacturer recommendations, and approved procedures.
  • Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, and replace electrical equipment and components, including generators, UPS systems, automatic transfer switches (ATSs), transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, motor control centers (MCCs), motors, starters, variable frequency drives (VFDs), lighting, and electric vehicle charging stations.
  • Maintain assigned low- and medium-voltage systems, including 480 V and 4160 V equipment, within documented training, demonstrated qualifications, and site authorization.
  • Conduct electrical condition assessments and diagnostic testing, including infrared inspections, insulation resistance measurements, contact resistance measurements, and functional testing. Document results, identify adverse trends, and escalate deficiencies.
  • Support generator exercising, ATS functional testing, UPS and battery maintenance, and emergency power system testing in accordance with approved procedures and applicable NFPA requirements.
  • Perform authorized electrical isolation, lockout/tagout, absence-of-voltage verification, and switching activities while applying appropriate shock and arc-flash risk controls and required PPE.
  • Install and modify electrical circuits, feeders, raceways, wiring, disconnects, and equipment in accordance with approved designs, applicable electrical codes, and site change-control procedures.
  • Troubleshoot electrical controls, relay logic, interlocks, and motor control circuits, partnering with Engineering and Automation when changes may affect equipment operation or validated systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals; prepare field redlines and support updates to equipment records, maintenance procedures, job plans, and inspection checklists.
  • Maintain accurate CMMS records documenting inspections, test results, repairs, deficiencies, and follow-up work. Support equipment failure investigations, identify critical spare parts, and recommend reliability improvements.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities, planned outages, contractor work, equipment return-to-service, and commissioning or acceptance testing with Engineering, Operations, EHS, and Quality. Cross-train teammates within demonstrated areas of competence and maintain required qualifications.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or GED plus 6+ years of related work experience, or an associate degree or higher plus 2+ years of related work experience, is required.
  • Completion of a recognized electrical apprenticeship or journeyman electrical training program, or an equivalent combination of technical education and relevant industrial electrical experience, is required.
  • An active California General Electrician certification, issued by the California Department of Industrial Relations (DIR), is required at the time of hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • A Level I or higher Infrared Thermographer certification from a recognized training and certification provider is required at the time of hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
