What Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) contributes to Cardinal Health

Revenue Cycle Management focuses on a series of clinical and administrative processes that healthcare providers utilize to capture, bill, and collect patient service revenue. The revenue cycle shadows the entire patient care journey and begins with patient appointment scheduling and ends when the patient’s account balance is zero.

The Collections team is responsible for the collection of outstanding medical oncology/infusion insurance accounts receivable. This includes understanding how an insurance payer adjudicates claims, how to successfully work a patient’s account, how to handle a dispute/appeal, developing payment plans with customers, and building relationships of trust with external customers and internal business partners.

The Coordinator, Collections, is responsible for the timely follow-up and resolution of assigned payer, oncology medical insurance claims. This role ensures accurate and efficient collection of outstanding balances from insurance payers, working to reduce aging accounts receivable and increase cash flow for the organization.
