Job Description

About the role

The Supply Planning Manager leads planning and on-time execution of product commercialization activities and post-commercialization supply chain management for the Small Molecule & Oncology Operating Unit in the US Region. This role communicates product and supply chain status, risks, and issues to support timely decision-making; coordinates forecasts, procurement plans, production schedules, capacity, and inventory; and serves as a key liaison among Takeda, third-party manufacturers, suppliers, and government agencies. The position also provides leadership for strategic and tactical supply chain initiatives that support reliable supply and business objectives.

How you will contribute

  • Provide strategic direction for short- and long-term supply chain integration initiatives aligned with corporate business objectives.
  • Lead planning and execution for product commercialization and post-commercialization supply strategies, including forecasts, procurement plans, production schedules, capacity, resources, and budgets.
  • Oversee third-party execution against performance metrics and drive timely improvements to operational performance, productivity, and planning communications.
  • Manage working capital associated with bulk drug product, finished drug product, packaging materials, and other inventory across Takeda’s network, licensors, suppliers, and contract organizations.
  • Partner with third-party manufacturers and raw material suppliers to help ensure the investments and capacity required for continuous supply.
  • Serve as the primary supply chain liaison with Operations, Quality, Project Management, Legal, Marketing, Finance, Customer Service, Regulatory, Sales, Customs, and Logistics for commercialized products.
  • Monitor environmental, legislative, compliance, customs, and internal factors that could affect Takeda’s supply chain and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Translate inputs from Marketing and Finance into actionable procurement and supply plans and communicate them across the end-to-end supply chain.
  • Partner with Customer Service and Trade Relations to align product demand, product availability, and customer service priorities.
  • Lead scenario planning and sensitivity analysis for portfolios of up to 100 SKUs, including prioritization of product schedules during production delays, capacity constraints, laboratory issues, and other disruptions.
  • Identify and implement cost savings, cost reductions, process improvements, and supply chain innovations.
  • Build effective partnerships across functions, regions, cultures, leadership levels, external organizations, and government agencies.

What you bring to Takeda

  • Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, packaging, engineering, business, logistics management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of planning, operations, or a combination of related experience.
  • Strong end-to-end supply chain thinking, including process mapping, analysis, prioritization, and project execution across functions.
  • Experience applying materials management, packaging, forecasting, procurement, inventory, and supply planning tools and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, IBP, or comparable planning tools, or the ability to quickly develop proficiency.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, changing supply plans, production delays, capacity challenges, and other operational constraints.
  • Proven ability to influence without direct authority and work effectively across functions, regions, and cultures.
  • Strong presentation, communication, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex issues and communicate clear recommendations to multiple levels of leadership.
  • Comfort challenging the status quo and implementing improvements to processes, systems, and ways of working.
