Senior Associate, Strategic Planning and Operations (SPO), Engineering

What you will do

The Senior Associate supports Global Engineering with a primary focus on leading the Engineering Safety and Compliance Training Program. The role oversees program execution, role-based training assignments, Engineering training metrics and integrated service provider (ISP) training key performance indicators (KPIs). It partners with Engineering leaders, corporate training teams and cross-functional stakeholders to maintain compliance, strengthen training culture and improve program effectiveness.

The role also contributes to broader SPO initiatives, including performance and career development learning activities, as business priorities require. The Senior Associate leads through program ownership, project management and influence across teams.

Key responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Training program leadership and compliance

  • Lead execution of Engineering’s Safety and Compliance Training Program, translating business and enterprise requirements into clear plans, priorities and follow-up.
  • Promote accurate, role-based training assignments across Engineering by partnering with functional managers to align requirements with job responsibilities and qualifications.
  • Monitor learner adherence, completion, overdue assignments and other established Engineering metrics; identify risks and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Oversee integrated service providers’ (ISPs’) training performance, including applicable KPIs and service level expectations; review results and follow up on gaps with provider and Engineering partners.
  • Manage training requests from initiation through resolution.
  • Provide guidance to learners, managers and stakeholders, and lead training office hours to answer questions and help resolve issues.
  • Maintain current training resources and communications on SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.

Metrics, governance and program effectiveness

  • Generate and review daily, weekly and monthly reports, as needed, and maintain Tableau dashboards and related reporting tools.
  • Translate training data, KPIs and stakeholder feedback into insights, recommendations and actions.
  • Present in governance forums and prepare leadership updates and compliance metrics that give leaders visibility into program performance, risks, dependencies and decisions, including mandatory training measures tracked at the executive vice president (EVP) level.
  • Identify trends and leading indicators, and recommend improvements to program effectiveness, adoption, outcomes and business value.
  • Support cross-functional projects and broader SPO initiatives, including performance and career development staff learning activities, by coordinating stakeholders, milestones, dependencies, risks and follow-through from planning through execution as priorities evolve.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, digitize or improve training and operational processes.
  • Partner with stakeholders to implement sustainable improvements and support adoption of new tools, processes and operating practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and relevant professional experience in training and development, learning operations, business operations, program or project management, organizational effectiveness or a related field.
  • Experience leading or coordinating training programs, strategic initiatives or complex cross-functional projects.
  • Experience with training metrics, compliance measures, KPIs, dashboards or operational performance reporting.
  • Strong project management, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate data, requirements, risks and recommendations clearly to varied audiences.
  • Ability to build partnerships and influence across teams without formal authority.
