Job Description:

Employer: Auris Health, Inc.

Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer, Hardware Simulation

Job Code: A011.11563

Job Location: Santa Clara, CA

Job Type: Full-Time

Rate of Pay: $165,000 - $185,000

Job Duties: Develop, build, and execute finite element analysis (FEA) models using ANSYS to evaluate structural performance, stiffness, stress, deformation, and durability of robotic medical device assemblies and electromechanical systems. Derive and simulate innovative designs based on user needs and product requirements. Perform static, quasi-static, dynamic, linear, nonlinear, modal, and vibration analyses on complex robotic mechanisms, lightweight structures, actuator systems, and motion transmission assemblies. Analyze and optimize mechanical components and subsystems including motors, gears, lead screws, splines, cams, bearings, pulleys, belts, linear guides, and other precision motion transmission elements. Conduct thermal and heat transfer analyses to assess thermal management performance of electromechanical hardware and support design decisions during concept, development, verification, and production phases. Correlate structural, vibration, and thermal simulation results with physical test data, investigate differences between analytical predictions and test outcomes, and improve model accuracy for design validation. Collaborate with mechanical design, electrical engineering, controls, systems integration, test engineering, manufacturing, quality, and external vendor teams to support development of robotic medical device platforms. Provide engineering support for design troubleshooting, root-cause investigation, simulation-driven design improvements, risk reduction, and resolution of technical issues during rapid product development cycles. Prepare simulation reports, engineering documentation, design specifications, and engineering change order materials while supporting safe, robust, reliable designs in an ISO/FDA-regulated medical device development environment.

May telecommute per company's policies (hybrid).

Requirements: Employer will accept a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 2 years of experience in the job offered or in a Senior Mechanical Engineer, Hardware Simulation-related occupation.

Position requires experience with:

  • Building complex simulation models with ANSYS and Abaqus to propose solutions for electromechanical systems
  • Vibration analysis, including modal analysis, modal testing, and dynamically induced vibration analysis
  • Various simulation types including static, dynamic, linear and non-linear analysis on assemblies ranging from 3 to 60 parts
  • Simulation of motors, gears, lead-screws, splines, cams, linear guides, belts, bearing, and pulleys
  • Crafting static, quasi-static and explicit dynamic models
  • Mechanical analysis including statics, dynamics, kinematics, thermal management, and stress analysis
  • Manufacturing processes and materials including machining, sheet metal, casting, injection molding, and 3D printing
  • Making drawings following standard methodologies from AMSE Y14.5-2009 Dimensioning and Tolerancing
  • Working with vendors to select, source, quote, and procure off-the-shelf and custom designed components
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Thermal simulations
