Position Summary:

The Principal Infrastructure Architect owns the end to end technical design of the on premises core platform, decides the technology inside the standards the SVP sets, writes the proposals and business cases that go to the CFO and CEO, leads the technical side of vendor selection and agreements, and stays accountable through build, migration, and the first year of operation. It is a hands on principal role with real decision authority.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Architecture, end to end. The target state and the transition states for compute, virtualization, storage, backup, data protection, and disaster recovery across office locations, including capacity, performance, resilience, and growth for the next five years. One set of documents, one owner.
  • Technology decisions. Server, hypervisor and private cloud platform, storage, backup, replication, and data center network integration. You evaluate, benchmark, recommend, and decide within the standards agreed with the SVP, and you document why.
  • The platform build. Lead the design, installation, configuration, hardening, and acceptance of the Audubon platform and the Limerick recovery site: servers and GPU nodes, the private cloud platform, the storage array, the backup estate, and the integration with the network and identity layers. Define the acceptance tests and sign the gates: power and failover tested, restore inside the agreed time, DR exercise passed.
  • Oracle and application landing. Design the platform the Globus One Oracle database, SharePoint Server, Exchange Server, and the data and AI stack land on; work with the database, collaboration, and data teams on sizing, placement, performance, and cutover readiness.
  • Backup and disaster recovery. The recovery architecture: replication between sites, backup policy and retention, immutability, restore testing, recovery time and recovery point objectives per system, and the annual DR exercise. Backup restored and DR tested, not assumed.
  • Proposals and business cases. Write the technical sections of capital requests and business cases: options, costs over three to five years, risks, and the recommendation. Present to the CFO and CEO when asked. Numbers you can defend, not adjectives.
  • Vendor selection and agreements. Lead the technical side of selection, proof of concept, and negotiation for hardware, software, maintenance, and services: requirements, evaluation criteria, bills of materials, reference checks, and the technical terms of agreements, working with the IT vendor and asset management lead and legal. Hold vendors to what they signed.
  • Standards and the center of excellence. Set and publish the infrastructure standards, reference architectures, build books, naming, and configuration baselines; establish the review that every infrastructure change passes through; mentor the infrastructure engineers in Audubon and Chennai so the standards outlive you.
  • Security by design. Build the platform to the CISO's requirements from the first drawing: segmentation, privileged access, hardening baselines, logging to the SIEM, encryption at rest and in transit, and audited change. Every touch recorded.
  • Operability. Design for the people who will run it: monitoring, capacity reporting, patching, lifecycle, runbooks, and the handover to operations in Chennai and the US. A platform nobody can operate at 2 a.m. is not finished.
  • Adheres to the letter and spirit of the company Code of Conduct, the AdvaMed Code, MedTech Code, and all other company policies.
  • Ensures Compliance with applicable governmental laws, rules, and regulations, both in the United States and internationally, by completing introductory and annual training and maintaining knowledge of compliance as it applies to your role.
  • Represents the company in a professional manner and upholds the highest standards of ethical business practices and socially responsible conduct in all interactions with other employees, customers, suppliers, and other third parties.

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

Qualifications:

  • 12+ years in enterprise infrastructure, with at least 5 years as the architect accountable for a data center scale platform end to end: compute, virtualization, storage, backup, and disaster recovery.
