The Lead brings structure to complex transactions, identifies technology implications and risks early, develops the HCM delivery approach, and drives execution through successful completion.

This is a senior individual-contributor role that leads through influence and matrixed teams, with no direct people-management responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess impacts across core HCM, Workday, Payroll, Time & Attendance, Benefits, Talent, HR technologies, integrations, data, reporting, security, and downstream applications.
  • Identify technology risks, dependencies, integration complexity, TSA requirements, and potential business-continuity impacts.
  • Develop preliminary scope, ROM estimates, timelines, resource requirements, and delivery assumptions to support transaction planning and decisions.

HCM M&A Strategy & Delivery

  • Develop the HCM technology strategy, roadmap, and delivery approach for each transaction in partnership with the HCM Architect and Solution Managers.
  • Define Day 1, transitional, and target-state requirements across employee data, HCM platforms, payroll, integrations, access, and downstream systems.
  • Lead HCM technology delivery from transaction initiation through implementation and stabilization.
  • Maintain the integrated HCM delivery plan, including milestones, risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, resources, and financials.
  • Coordinate delivery across internal teams, implementation partners, vendors, and managed-service providers.
  • Drive decisions, resolve cross-functional dependencies, and escalate material risks with clear recommendations.
  • The existing HCM M&A delivery framework includes integrated planning, Day 1 readiness, TSA planning and exit, cutover, stabilization, testing, and operational readiness.

Day 1 Readiness & Stabilization

  • Drive HCM Day 1 readiness across data, integrations, payroll, security/access, testing, cutover, and operational support.
  • Lead readiness reviews and coordinate HCM technology cutover activities.
  • Ensure risks affecting employees, payroll, access, or continuity of HR services are identified and addressed.
  • Oversee post-close stabilization and transition to steady-state support.

Portfolio, Governance & Stakeholder Leadership

  • Maintain visibility to the M&A pipeline and associated HCM technology demand, capacity, and resource requirements.
  • Represent HCM Technology in cross-functional M&A planning and governance forums.
  • Provide concise executive-level reporting on scope, milestones, financials, readiness, risks, dependencies, and decisions.
  • Lead across matrixed teams through influence, providing clarity and accountability in complex and ambiguous environments.
  • Develop and continuously improve a repeatable HCM M&A playbook, including due-diligence assessments, estimation models, readiness criteria, delivery templates, and lessons learned.
  • The current HCM M&A model is designed around a scalable delivery capability and includes Workday HCM, Payroll and Time, Benefits and Absence, integrations, data conversion, and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Technology, Business, HR, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in HCM technology, enterprise applications, ERP, technology delivery, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional technology programs through matrixed teams.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise HCM ecosystems, including Workday, Payroll, integrations, identity/security, and downstream applications.
  • Experience managing program scope, schedules, financials, risks, dependencies, testing, cutover, and operational readiness.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder-management, and executive-communication capabilities.
