Position Summary
The CPO organization partners closely with R&D and Commercial to translate cutting-edge science into measurable health outcomes, grounded in the patient voice and external insights from healthcare systems and decision-makers worldwide. Joining CPO means working across the full product lifecycle and collaborating with diverse expert teams – from Patients & External Environment and Medical Planning to Data Generation, Scientific Communications, Medical Impact, Proactive Risk Ownership and Integrated Evidence Strategy – to ensure robust evidence, clear medical insight and responsible risk ownership shape strategy and execution at scale. It’s a highly visible, purpose-driven environment where your expertise can directly influence how innovative therapies are developed, communicated and used to improve lives around the world.
The Director, Real-World Evidence & Health Outcomes (RWE-HO), mRNA Vaccines will provide scientific and strategic leadership for the development and delivery of real-world evidence supporting GSK's mRNA vaccine portfolio, with a primary focus on influenza. The role will shape evidence generation across late-stage development, launch and post-marketing phases, with particular responsibility for post-marketing vaccine effectiveness studies in the United States.
Working in a global, cross-functional environment, the Director will translate recommendation and access evidence needs into scientifically rigorous and operationally feasible research. The role requires deep expertise in US vaccine effectiveness research, influenza epidemiology, real-world data and causal methods, together with the ability to influence asset strategy and lead complex external collaborations.
Responsibilities
This role will provide YOU the opportunity to lead key activities to progress YOUR career. These responsibilities include some of the following:
- Lead and contribute to the integrated RWE-HO strategy for mRNA influenza vaccines, aligned with clinical development, medical, regulatory and commercialization priorities.
- Translate strategic evidence gaps into clear research questions and fit-for-purpose study designs across pre-launch, launch and post-marketing phases.
- Provide expert scientific input to governance decisions, investment choices, evidence prioritization and risk mitigation.
- Lead the design, implementation and interpretation of post-marketing influenza vaccine effectiveness studies in the United States and other geographies.
- Ensure studies meet appropriate standards of scientific rigor, transparency, reproducibility and fitness for their intended decision-making purpose.
- Build productive collaborations with US academic investigators, healthcare systems, data partners and vaccine effectiveness research networks.
- Partner effectively with Clinical Development, Epidemiology, Medical Affairs, Regulatory, Safety, Biostatistics, Market Access, Data Science and Commercial teams.
- Lead multiple complex projects, budgets and external research collaborations, ensuring quality, timely delivery and appropriate escalation of risks.
- Influence senior stakeholders without direct authority and communicate complex epidemiological concepts in a clear, decision-focused manner.
- Mentor colleagues and contribute to strengthening RWE-HO capabilities, standards and innovation across the organization.
