We offer uniquely interesting and meaningful work, opportunities for growth, and a supportive environment that values inclusion, wellbeing, flexibility, and comprehensive benefits. Position Overview
At BMS, we are committed to the advancement of science with the drive to improve every day for the benefit of patients. To accelerate our position as leaders in cell therapy and serve patients around the world, we are committed to being at the forefront of change.
Reporting to the Executive Director, Cell Therapy Multiple Myeloma, the Director, WW Medical, MM Portfolio will lead the high-visibility medical initiatives that span the MM CAR T portfolio. This role does not own a single asset. Instead, it makes sure the MM CAR T medical strategy is carried through consistently into congress activities, external expert engagement, content for markets, and cross-market governance forums.
The Director will work closely with colleagues across Portfolio Strategy, Medical Communications, Project Management, Hematology Medical, asset leads and local markets. They will need a working command of the strategy for each MM asset, the ability to influence without authority, and the discipline to move several workstreams forward independently while staying closely aligned with the Executive Director and asset leads.
Key Responsibilities
Congress and External Scientific Presence: Represent MM Cell Therapy Medical in the day-to-day work on congress activities, including symposia and thought leader engagement (TLE) planning, which are led by Medical Communications, Portfolio Strategy and other partner functions.
- Guide content development so that materials and engagement plans reflect MM CAR T strategy and each asset's core messaging.
- Act as the team's main point of contact for workstream owners, coordinating input and alignment from asset leads to support on-time delivery.
MM Strategic Council Leadership: Own the MM Strategic Council (a panel of external thought leaders on retainer), from agenda setting through execution.
- Work with asset leads to set priority insight questions, then synthesize the findings so they inform asset and portfolio decisions.
Cross-Market Knowledge Sharing: Coordinate how MM Cell Therapy medical content and strategy reach markets, so local teams have consistent, timely access to the latest information.
- Own the Launchpad as the central repository for market-facing medical content, and keep it current, accurate and aligned with approved strategy.
- Coordinate content for cross-market forums (AIMS, MM CAR and FIRE calls) in partnership with Project Management and other relevant functions, so the meetings advance portfolio priorities and support consistent execution.
Hematology Medical Partnership: Serve as the main point of contact between MM Cell Therapy and Heme Medical teams, promoting alignment, knowledge sharing and a unified BMS presence in multiple myeloma
Strategic Pull-Through and Alignment: Build a working command of the MM CAR T portfolio strategy and messaging, and make sure cross-portfolio deliverables reflect it even when you aren't the project owner.
- Partner with asset leads and workstream owners to flag misalignment, risks and decision points early.
- Keep the Executive Director and asset leads aligned on progress and priorities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced degree (MD, PhD or PharmD) required; background in oncology/hematology or a related life sciences discipline preferred
- 6–8 years of pharmaceutical industry experience, including Medical Affairs; multiple myeloma and CAR T knowledge preferred but not required
- Proven ability to influence without authority and drive outcomes through matrixed, cross-functional and global teams
- Exceptional organization and project leadership skills, with a track record of managing several high-visibility workstreams at once in a deadline-driven environment
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and use sound judgment, while knowing when and how to align with leadership and stakeholders
- Strategic thinking: able to quickly absorb complex asset and portfolio strategy and translate it into consistent execution across workstreams
- Experience planning congress activities, symposia, advisory boards or expert engagement programs preferred
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including with senior leadership, markets and external thought leaders
- Highly collaborative, with strong relationship-building skills at all levels of the organization
- Estimated 15–20% domestic and international travel
