Asset Medical Lead Medical Director – Cardiovascular & Metabolic (CVM) Strategy

What you will do

Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role, you will lead the development and delivery of U.S. Cardiovascular & Metabolic (CVM) Medical strategy for maridebart cafraglutide (also known as MariTide), an investigational therapy developed by Amgen and being studied for obesity and obesity-related conditions. You will establish the cross-indication scientific, evidence, stakeholder, and implementation foundation that supports chronic weight management (CWM) launch readiness and prepares the organization for maturation in CVM. In partnership with the U.S. Medical Portfolio Lead, TA Head, Global Medical, and cross-functional colleagues, you will translate global strategy into an integrated U.S. Medical plan.

Responsibilities:

• Lead U.S. CVM Medical strategy, with initial emphasis on CWM launch support and early CV readiness.

• Build an integrated, evidence-based CVM narrative linking obesity and the broader care continuum.

• Define U.S. scientific evidence gaps and shape local evidence, RWE, HEOR, and Access and Use Evidence Generation priorities in alignment with global plans.

• Synthesize customer, field, market, and medical insights to inform U.S. Medical, Brand, evidence, and implementation decisions.

• Develop the early external-engagement plan for cardiologists, HF specialists, integrated delivery networks, professional societies, payers, and other priority stakeholders.

• Partner with Global Medical, Global Development, CfOR, HEOR, Medical Value and Access, and Scientific Communications to translate emerging evidence into U.S. strategy and execution.

• Lead or support U.S. scientific communications, including the scientific platform, core content, publication implementation, congress plans, and medical education.

• Support clinical trial activities and data interpretation as a U.S. Medical interface with Global Clinical Development and evidence-generation teams.

• Lead or support advisory boards, expert panels, and implementation-science initiatives that clarify real-world care pathways, referral patterns, and barriers to appropriate care.

• Provide medical input into reimbursement, policy, regulatory, label, and promotional-material discussions consistent with governance and evidence.

• Serve as a medical representative in leadership, governance, launch-readiness, and cross-functional teams; recommend priorities and resource trade-offs for the U.S. Medical plan.

• Contribute to medical training and field scientific readiness for CWM/OSA and evolving CVM evidence needs.

• Support decisions on independent medical education, medical grants, sponsorships, and advocacy activities in accordance with Amgen governance.

• Ensure Medical activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and standard operating procedures.

• Use established planning and performance-management processes to measure progress, identify risks, and improve execution.
