Job Description
The Manager, Strategic Initiatives combines strategic initiative management with advanced data analysis, dashboard analytics, and decision-support capabilities. The role translates complex portfolio, workforce, financial, resource, and operational data into clear insights that help leaders prioritize work, allocate resources, monitor execution, and make timely decisions. The position develops and maintains integrated dashboards, reporting tools, scorecards, and analytical views; strengthens data quality and governance across source systems; and supports cross-functional initiatives from problem definition through implementation and adoption. The role works across CDO, R&D, Finance, Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Procurement, and Business Technology Solutions to connect strategy, funding, capacity, execution risk, and measurable outcomes.
- Promote adoption of standardized dashboards, analytics, and processes by developing guidance, training users, gathering feedback, measuring utilization, and refining solutions to meet evolving business needs.
- Create concise, executive-ready narratives and presentations that connect data to business impact and enable leaders to distinguish priorities, understand implications, and make informed portfolio, funding, workforce, and execution decisions.
- Provide end-to-end leadership for cross-functional process improvement and strategic initiatives, including scope definition, integrated plans, resource projections, governance, decision points, risk mitigation, change management, and implementation.
- Facilitate initiative governance forums and working sessions; maintain clear documentation of decisions, actions, owners, milestones, and interdependencies; and escalate significant issues or resource gaps with fact-based options and recommendations.
- Identify opportunities to automate recurring reporting, streamline manual workflows, improve data accessibility, and strengthen sustainable use of tools such as Power BI, Excel, SharePoint, Power Apps, Power Automate, Monday.com, and other approved platforms.
- Develop, monitor, and continuously improve key performance indicators, success measures, forecasts, and effectiveness metrics for strategic initiatives and business operations; proactively identify material variances, emerging risks, and opportunities.
Qualifications
- Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree (or ex-US equivalent) in business, data analytics, information systems, engineering, life sciences, finance, operations, or a related field.
- Minimum Experience: Typically 3+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical development, business operations, analytics, strategy, project or portfolio management, continuous improvement, consulting, or a related environment.
- Demonstrated initiative, learning agility, and comfort working through ambiguity to structure problems and create scalable solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong project management, problem-solving, and continuous-improvement skills, including the ability to manage milestones, risks, dependencies, and competing priorities in a matrixed environment.
- Experience developing and maintaining dashboards, scorecards, reports, or analytical products using Power BI, advanced Excel, or comparable data-visualization and business-intelligence tools.
